Late Stage College Planning

Do you have a High School student that is thinking about college?

What is Late Stage College Planning?

Late Stage College Planning (LSCP) is about helping parents with children in high school develop a plan on how to approach sending them to college.  Parents typically have many questions that need to be answered.  Families often approach the college question by looking at some schools and saying "we will figure it out if you get in". This has lead to all time highs in student loan debt.  My goal is to help families try to find a better way.  Late Stage College Planning is about trying to save on the cost of college, not just saving for college.

I utilize software that allows me to help families try to answer these questions and build a plan to help them feel more comfortable in their decisions.  This process would hopefully start early in the students high school career as we will have more options to discuss.  I am also able to help your family begin to understand how they might be able to improve their chances to receive either needs based or merit aid.  Some students may not qualify for either of these but if you do not know the rules and have not developed a plan, you will likely decrease your chances.  Another thing to be aware of is not all schools treat financial aid in the same way.  So just comparing two schools and saying this one has a higher sticker price so it will cost you more to go there is not always the case.  Maybe it does cost more, but it may not be as much as you thought.  It all depends on your personal situation and you should not compare with a neighbor.
